Sure Start seems set to take a beating. According to the council's accountants:
"The funding for Children's Centres and Quality and Access is to be managed down."It could have been worse. The total reduction in the Department for Education's Area Based Grant was actually £2.9 million, or 24 per cent. By robbing Peter to pay Paul, switching more than £1.2 million from other budget headings, officials hope they've come up with a way to mitigate the damage.
